Duxford Revisited – Old Footage from Vintage Flying Display

A compilation of old footage from a visit to a vintage aircraft flying display at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford back in 2009.

I found some old tapes in the archive, which included a load of standard-definition footage taken at the American Air Museum weekend at Duxford. Mostly handheld shots, in standard definition, but great to see again.

To be able to see a Spitfire in formation with a Hawker Hurricane, then a BAE Hawk jet fighter, followed by a North American P-51 Mustang was something to behold.

Aircraft included are:

  • Consolidated PBY Catalina
  • General Dynamics F-16A MLU
  • de Havilland DH89 Dragon Rapide
  • Avro Anson T21
  • Supermarine Spitfire
  • BAE Systems Hawk
  • Hawker Hurricane
  • North American P-51D Mustang ‘Ferocious Frankie’
  • Percival Pembroke
  • North American T-6 Texan
  • de Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk
  • Piper L4A Grasshopper
  • Boeing Stearman
  • Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress
