In preparation for our latest production, STAGE DIRECTION, we were given unique access by Delfont-Mackintosh to the Noel Coward Theatre to film behind the scenes and gather some great background footage. Here’s a short compilation that visits the incredibly ornate auditorium and explores the extensive stage area.
STAGE DIRECTION is a documentary based around two radio interviews recorded with Anthony Quayle and Roy Kinnear at the Albery Theatre, London in 1984 when they were appearing in the comedy, The Clandestine Marriage.
During the interviews, Anthony and Roy recollect their struggle to get established and pass on ideas and suggestions for those thinking of following them into one of the world’s most precarious professions. Over thirty years later, we revisit the theatre and ask what relevance their advice still has for actors today.
